Erik,

I finally got your package in the mail! don't get too excited. I forgot the peanut butter m&ms in the kitchen and the Space Bags. I did get you some awesome pillows (i hope), two dirt-colored ultra soft pillow cases (for your huge melon), a mouse, and some giant ziploc bags. We use them out in the desert to keep the sand off of our blankets, sleeping bags, clothes, etc.....

so, not EXACTLY as we had planned but I figured I should get them in the mail before we bug out of here for Spring Break. Imagine fat Adam and I burning on a beach while yelling at the kids and it will be like being there. Ugh. I actually hate travellingn.

Happy Easter!

Hi Erik,
Thanks for your descriptive entries..(I still have a hard time calling it all a "blog" ) Where and when did that word come from? Am I just too ancient? I don't ever remeber teaching that word to my grade one and two classes. Anyway....I look forward to your explanation. Others in our older age group (oops) are asking about that too.
Anyway, most people are probably out shopping for Easter eggs and preparing lovely ham dinners etc. as tomorrow is Easter Sunday...it came early this year. I remember that Good Friday 17 years ago when Maddy was just born. How wonderful to be there in Provo Utah with you and Lorri and to hold your new baby (finally born at 4:34 pm) and to celebrate her first Easter. We Grandmas sure have a lot of beautiful memories.
Have a Happy Easter and let us know how you spent your Easter Day. We'll all be thinking of you.
With love, Audrey & Mike

Rupe~

Although I haven't posted yet (sorry - and hello various Rupards!), I've been reading your blog religiously. I check it at least once a day and I've found it (dare I say) inspirational. You are truly a good writer and I'm beginning to believe you may in fact even be a good person. I'm glad you're doing well over there and finding time to read Mamet and watch March Madness and work out and keep up with podcasts - this is all very encouraging to me, and I haven't yet read anywhere that anyone has actually tried to kill you, which is even more encouraging.

As far as the Mamet article, surprisingly I agree with all of it. I suspect it of being much more nuanced than you suggest (he's still for limited government, and certainly hasn't crossed the line into what we would typically call "socially conservative"), but he sounds like a good libertarian should. Maybe one that's a little more tolerant of "government" and "corporate interests" and "Bush" than I am, but I think he's still fundamentally on target, and he highlights the middle ground where I think you & I are in almost complete agreement. I do think it is more vague than its title suggests, however.

By the way, when I say I'm reading your blog religiously, I mean regularly and without fail, the generic form of the adverb. Don't get too excited.

Rock on, soldier...
