Erik--

Glad you are enjoying the pillows. I would like to claim the giant candy box but well, I cannot.

We are stuck in the airport in Hawaii. Our airlines died a quick and painful death... Aloha cancelled all of its flights just hours before we were to leave. We are now enjoying the internet kiosks in the Maui Airport.

yeah, it seems like fun, but think humid, dirty airport terminal with no exit strategy. Hey, one airlines told us we could probably get out of here by the 9th.

Oh Lord, what is brought this hoard of locusts upon us?

Okay, it isn't that bad. I just love home, the internet, and food that isn't prepared in Hawaii--no one told me I would look forward to McDonald's!

If you need a different mouse (non-optical--maybe the dust will clog it's little laser eye) or something, let us know.

Remember those kids you used to see with a leash in the airport?

Well, Sam is about 6 feet tall, and shaves but I am starting to think he needs a leash. Until I find one, I have just loaded him up like a Sherpa and get him to run back and forth on the walking sidewalks. Viola!

Enjoy the dust and the gumballs, package master,
Lisa

Dad, that was very sweet. I'm glad the inflation didn't affect my net worth. Love ya dad!

Thank you to everyone who sent me birthday greetings! I had a great day with my mom and sisters.
It would have been better of course if my dad was there.

P.S. We are gathering things for a care package. Dad called the post office today to inquire regarding the special boxes for deployed military. The post master said, "Gee, I think we have some around here, but nobody ever asked for them before. I'll look around the back room." That CT for you. 99.44% liberal democrat state. Love, Mom

First, Hi, Mary,

Welcome to the family. I am Erik's mom and will be 69 next month and would love to adopt you. You sound great; we are a family of literary nuts. I majored in English and Education and graduated from Kansas State in 1960. However, having realized that I missed my calling, spent the majority of my working years in the fields of finance with Travelers Insurance Company and Citizens Bank. Barry Sr. and I live in Old Lyme, CT, as does Melissa and her family. Also I have dry eye. Sounds like you should come and visit. Marilyn

To Maddy,

Happy Birthday to the fun, beautiful, talented, spiritual, kind, honest, and cherished person who is my granddaughter. Have a fabulous day. Love, Gram

To Erik,

I have been reading your blog and weeping (not because you said "grosser" and not because of the pronunciation of potable, which, if pronounced in GA would be mistaken for portable) as I recall with fondness the events of the past. Dad and I can understand to some degree your feelings of boredom - one day just like the other. We have experienced those feeling when we are trapped in the winter, in the house, in New England, even though we have many toys to keep us occupied. As Becky suggested, we purchased a car yesterday. We are so conservative that I can't believe we did it, actually making up our mind in hours, not months. As you know, Becky and Wade bought our Odyssey. We stopped by the Toyota dealer on Thursday to test drive a Prius. They only had one on the lot. They had already sold 35 during the month of March. You cannot order one because they are too popular. You have to take what comes in. So I asked the salesman if he would call us if a silver one with a grey interior came in. He said he would check with the sales manager. The sales manager came over and said he was in the process of taking in a 2007 (silver and grey) with 15,000 miles from an "older the we are" couple who could not get used to the electric motor. To make a long story short, we bought it ($4,000.00 off the price the original owners paid, and no CT sales tax), and your father is out taking people for rides. The car is a hatchback and certainly not the most beautiful of cars, but at 48 MPG in town, who cares. Erik, we love your blog, and, of course, we love you. We pray for you multiple times daily and feel the love of Heavenly Father as we pray for your safety. Work hard and return with honor, as you always have. Mom

Happy, Happy Birthday Maddy from the Anundsons! We love you so much. Uncle Wade and I remember you as a tiny, funny little girl and we liked to pretend you were ours for a short time (and then give you back when we were done!) I find it almost impossible to believe that you are a very tall, beautiful 17 year old! I hope that your day is great!
