Checking In

It’s 10:52 PM here in Iraq, and I am just getting back to my can after a long day. All is well here; I’ll try to catch up on the last couple of days’ events with a blog entry tomorrow.

    Tonight as we finished up dinner, the phone rang and Grace (my sister Aimee’s 5 year-old) begged, “Can I get it, can I get it Can I get it…?” As I picked up the receiver and put it to her ear, I could see her listening intently to a voice on the other end. When I overheard the person (a political campaign volunteer) ask if they could please speak to Mr. Erik Rupard, Gracie very sincerely replied, “Sorry, he’s not here, he’s at a war.”
